Inspired by a love of the handbag but frustrated by the lack of choice in today's offerings, Design Guru was established to offer women high-quality, customizable handbags.

The challenge was accessing the best materials available such as Italian leather and fine-textured lining and creating a system through which people can select styles and colors to reflect their personalities. The key to truly making Design Guru special, however, was incorporating the use of symbols in the design. This additional layer of meaning opened up a new dimension to the bags — one in which individuality could be reinforced, energy created, and inspiration fueled.

What exactly is a "guru"? The word is full of history and meaning, but in simple terms, GU (darkness) RU (light) means "one who brings light into darkness." It's about becoming enlightened and all you can be.

This concept can be helpful on multiple levels. Whether you're striving to learn something new, to open yourself to unfamiliar territory, or master a skill you've been developing, transforming yourself into a guru can be tremendously satisfying. This is what we at Design Guru strive for: to enable personal expression and encourage personal growth.
